Founded in the early 17th century, Churu is famous for its glorious "havelis" (mansions). These exhibit the well known architectural brilliance of the Rajputs and are the homes to splendid life size paintings.

The places of interest include Salasar Balaji (houses a temple that is definitely worth a visit as Lord Balaji is said to fulfill the desires of devotees), Ratangarh (an imposing fort, built in the early 19th century), Surana haveli (the mansion with more than a thousand doors and elegant windows), Kothar Haveli (built in 1915) and Kanhayya Lal Bagla Haveli (built in 1870).
