Mandore |
|
Mandore is only 8kms from Jodhpur and has beautiful gardens and rock terraces. It has been a humming city since the 5th century and has its fair share of forts and palaces, gardens and plantations. Mandore was the royal funeral ground for many years and hence has several cenotaphs.
Places of Interest in Mandore
The places of interest are Hall of heroes (houses sixteen gigantic figures chiseled out of a single rock and the memorials of the former maharajas), Ajit Pol (the gate built in celebration of Ajit Singh's victory over the Mughals in the early 18th century), Palace of Abhai Singh (beautiful palace that encloses a small museum) and Memorial of Maharaja Ajit Singh (the temple-shaped memorial - the largest and finest).
