Nagaur was the cause of many a battles because of its strategic location. It has a massive fort and there are old palaces, water cisterns and other structures built inside the fortified area. Some of the walls have elaborate scenes painted on them. The main attractions are Dargah of Khwaja Hamiduddin Nagauri and Amar Singh Rathore-ki-Chhatri.

However, Nagaur is the most popular for the cattle fair that is held here annually. The Nagauri breed cattle are renowned and during the fair a large number of cows, bullocks, oxen and camels are traded. Folk dance, music, traditional Rajasthani food and colorful attires are an integral part of the fair.
