Approximately 50kms from Udaipur is Nathdwara, the popular Hindu pilgrimage location that is visited by numerous devotees every year. It is situated on the banks of the Beas river and is the site for one of the most distinguished shrines of India that is dedicated to Lord Krishna.
Places of Interest in Nathdwara
The Srinathji Temple is famous for the image depicting Lord Krishna lifting the Govardhana hill to overcome Lord Indra. This image was originally worshipped in another shrine and then moved to its current location as a larger temple was built for it. Vaishnavite shrine was constructed in the 17th century and is among the most famous shrines in India. Within the temple is a glorious image of Lord Krishna believed to be dating back to the 12th century BC.
