The famous Poddar
merchants left the village of Churu after a disagreement with
the "Takur" (landlord). The Poddar family of merchants then
founded Ramgarh in the late 18th century.
Places of Interest in Ramgarh
The places of interest include Ramgopal Poddar Chhatri (the marvelous
cenotaph with exquisitely painted scenes from the Epic,
Ramayana), Poddar Havelis (the grand mansions built by the
founders), Shaniji Temple (with intricately made artistic
frescoes), Ganga temple and some attractive "havelis"
(mansions).
