Set amidst the
picturesque Aravalli and Vindhya ranges, variegated with dense
deciduous forests and dotted with lakes is Ranthambore, the
perfect location for a wildlife sanctuary. The Ranthambore
National Park represents the outstanding efforts of
conservation and caring for nature. The Park is most famous
for its population of the royal Indian tigers but the other
inhabitants are hyenas, sloth bears, sambars, nilgais and
crocodiles, among numerous others.
Places of Interest in Ranthambore
The Ranthambore Fort is located within the Park. Built in the
10th century, the fort is considered to be one of the oldest
forts in Rajasthan. There are splendid palaces in its
premises. The Badal Mahal or the "Palace of the Clouds" is
probably the most famous and has the eighty-four column
chhatri of King Hammir.
